I have tried following the steps in this article, but to no avail. I also made sure to grant all the necessary permissions as instructed here to the installer and disabled the antivirus and firewall, but these steps also didn't help.
I agree that you should install with local admin rights. I would also recommend that you create a new TEMP folder on C:\ and point your %TEMP% and %TMP% user environment variables to this new folder. Then make sure you install with your anti-virus temporarily disabled.
Just change the value to C:\TEMP after creating that directly. It will help your installation a lot by getting those temporary files out of your user account. It'll be easier to keep cleaned up as well.

I'm reopening this thread because today I had a problem with this plotter in windows 10 64 and I found the solution, both for the driver installation and for Autocad to detect the plotter correctly, because with other HP drivers installed the plotter could print certain types of files such as PDF or JPG, but could not print from AutoCad.
I know the full workaround now for this terrible bit of support from HP. After calling them and being told to buy a new plotter instead of how to use my perfectly functioning plotter, I called a local company who were able to walk me through it simply.
Now, suddenly, in the middle of a job, my Designjet 500 printing process decided to get goofy. I uninstalled it and attempted to reinstall on my up todate Win 10/64 machine. I tried using the HP drivers I already had (and have worked OK) but by following the options that Win provided, I couldn't get it to recognize any files in the HP 500 folder.
I don't know how many hours I've spent trying to find the right driver to get my plotter working on a new computer. Now I'm in business. And wish I had time to go back to all the forums with the incorrect solution and post this one.
Beginner here, so bear with me. I have Microsoft Visual Studio Professional 2022 installed. I've managed to install the SKDs I need, but have trouble with installing the correct version of AutoCAD .NET Wizard. We are using AutoCAD/Civil 3D 2021 in my company, so I assume I need to install the 2021 version of the wizard. Since my company has IT policies that prohibit me from installing msi files I had an IT-support help me install what I thought was the correct file: the msi file in this zip file AutoCAD_2021_dotnet_wizards.zip, that I downloaded from here: . But when installing that msi it complains that I need to have Visual studio version 2019 installed, so the installation fails. We managed to install the 2024 Wizard, so when creating a new template in Visual Studio I can create a project from the AutoCAD 2024 template. But I assume that template will not work well when coding scripts for AutoCAD/Civil 3D 2021?
If you need to use AutoCAD or Wine you should install another distro. Kali is a specific Linux distro aimed at pentesting, and it is unlikely that it would have a package for Wine. As its official documentation says:
